Korean skincare reaches Bangladeshi buyers through four channels: distributor-backed retailers (Shajgoj, Beauty Booth, Arogga, Rokomari), K-beauty specialists (Klassy, Chardike, Korean Shop BD, Cosmetics Corner), open marketplaces like Daraz, and Facebook page sellers or classifieds. The first two issue invoices and accept returns, and charge roughly 15–70% more than the cheapest listing. The last two are parallel or luggage imports — cheaper, and with no recourse if the box arrives half-cooked.
That price gap is not small, and it is not evenly spread. When I priced four popular SKUs across nine sellers on 14 August 2026, the same COSRX cleanser ranged from ৳890 to ৳1,500. On a classifieds site, a Beauty of Joseon sunscreen that no registered shop sells below ৳1,200 was listed at ৳399.

What “authorised import” actually means in Bangladesh
Less than the phrase suggests. Cosmetics entering Bangladesh need a certificate of conformity for customs clearance, and importers collect a clearance certificate from the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution once a shipment lands at Benapole, Dhaka airport or Chattogram. That is a port-level check on the consignment, not a brand-authorised distribution agreement.
And the mandatory net is narrower than most shoppers assume. The Daily Star’s Glow Economy supplement reported that only 79 of the 299 BSTI-listed products require a CM licence for import, leaving many categories — including skin-protection products — outside the mandatory list.
So “BSTI approved” on a product page tells you a shipment cleared customs. It does not tell you the shop buys from the brand’s appointed distributor. For that, COSRX publishes an official authorised-seller page alongside a standing warning that counterfeits falsely claiming to be COSRX circulate worldwide. Two minutes on that page beats any badge in a shop’s footer.
Grey market is not the same as fake
A grey-market unit is genuine product imported outside the brand’s official chain — bought wholesale in Seoul, Dubai or Bangkok, flown in, resold here. The formula in the bottle is real. What you lose is the paper trail and the cold end of the supply chain.
Three things go wrong in practice. Stock sits in a non-climate-controlled warehouse through a Dhaka summer, which matters for sunscreens and vitamin C. Batches arrive with 8–10 months of shelf life left instead of 30. And if the pump seizes or the texture has turned, the seller has no distributor to claim against, so you eat the loss.
Counterfeits are a separate, smaller problem — concentrated in the highest-volume hero products, which is exactly why snail essence and Relief Sun get copied and a niacinamide toner rarely does.
The price check: same products, nine sellers, 14 August 2026

Two readings of that table. First, on the essence the honest spread is 14% — competitive, and worth going cheap on. Second, the cleanser’s 69% spread between ৳890 and ৳1,500 is too wide to be pure margin; check whether the listing is 150ml or the 50ml travel size before you decide anyone is overcharging.
The outlier sits outside the table. Bikroy carries Beauty of Joseon sunscreen listings starting at ৳399 — roughly a quarter of the lowest retailer price. Korean Care BD’s price guide puts a floor of about ৳1,200 on authentic COSRX snail essence at Bangladeshi landed cost. Apply the same logic to sunscreen. A ৳399 Relief Sun is not a deal; it is a different product, or one that has been sitting somewhere warm.
Caveat on my numbers: these are listed prices on one day, discounts rotate weekly, and a listed price is not proof of stock. I checked pages and boxes’ claimed specs, not lab assays.
Six checks before you pay
- Batch code and expiry visible. Ask for a photo of the base of the box before dispatch. A seller who cannot produce one within a day does not have the stock in hand.
- Price floor. Sunscreen under ৳1,100, snail essence under ৳1,200 — walk away or ask harder questions.
- Size confirmation. Half the “cheap” COSRX listings in Bangladesh are 50ml or sachet sizes photographed to look like the 150ml.
- Written return terms. Most local retailers only replace damaged or wrong items, not change-of-mind returns. Know which you are getting.
- Cash on delivery, opened at the door. Inspect the seal and the printed expiry before you hand over money.
- Cross-check the brand’s own seller list. COSRX, Anua and Beauty of Joseon all publish or endorse distributor information; a shop claiming exclusivity that appears nowhere is claiming it for you, not for the brand.
Which channel is right for you?
Buying sunscreen, vitamin C or anything actives-heavy: go to a registered retailer with a return policy, even at +30%. Heat and light damage are invisible until the product stops working, and you have no way to test for it at home. This is the one category where I refuse to bargain-hunt.
Buying a well-known cleanser, toner or essence: shop the price. The spread among registered sellers on COSRX essence was 14% on 14 August, so there is no reason to pay the top of the range. I would take Arogga’s ৳1,399 over OHSOGO’s ৳1,599 without hesitation.
Outside Dhaka, no physical store within reach: stick to sellers with nationwide COD and a phone number that a human answers. The counterfeit risk is highest exactly where physical verification is hardest, and a ৳119 delivery charge is cheaper than a ruined bottle.
Chasing a discontinued or unreleased SKU: grey market is your only route. Accept that, budget for it, and buy the smallest size available first.

Some of it. Daraz hosts many third-party sellers, so authenticity depends on the individual shop, not the platform. Check the seller’s store rating, the listed size, and whether the price sits within the ranges above before ordering.
Which is the cheapest place to buy Korean skincare in Bangladesh?
Among registered retailers on 14 August 2026, Orpa (৳890) and OHSOGO (৳925) held the lowest listed prices on the COSRX Low pH cleanser, and Arogga (৳1,399) on the snail essence. Classifieds and Facebook sellers list lower, with corresponding risk.
How do I check the expiry date on Korean skincare?
Korean packaging usually prints a manufacture date and an expiry or “use by” date on the box base and the tube crimp, in YYYY.MM.DD form. Ask for that photo before dispatch — after delivery, your leverage is gone.
Does COSRX have an official distributor in Bangladesh?
COSRX maintains a public list of authorised partner sellers on its own site and warns about global counterfeits. Verify any Bangladeshi “official distributor” claim against that list rather than against the shop’s own badge.
Is grey-market Korean skincare safe to use?
