Buy from a seller that names its supply chain and shows a fixed price. In Bangladesh that means single-seller importers — Shajgoj, Klassy Missy, OHSOGO, BanglaShoppers, Chardike, Beauty Booth — or fixed-price platforms like Arogga and Rokomari. Daraz is an open marketplace, where the seller you pick decides what arrives, not the platform. On our 14 August 2026 check, one 30ml The Ordinary Niacinamide serum ranged from ৳1,130 to ৳1,650 across these shops.
All prices below were read off the retailers’ own listing pages on 14 August 2026. They move weekly.
How we compared these nine
We did not lab-test anything. This is a shopping comparison, and it’s built on three things we can actually verify from outside:
- A benchmark basket. Two SKUs sold nearly everywhere — The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (30ml) and COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence (30ml and 100ml) — priced on the same day so the numbers are comparable.
- Business model. Who owns the stock: an importer that buys and holds it, a pharmacy platform, or a marketplace that rents shelf space to third-party sellers. This single fact predicts most authenticity risk.
- What the listing tells you. Whether the page states a sourcing claim, a fixed price, and a written replacement policy — or leaves it to the DM.
What we couldn’t check matters too: none of the nine publishes batch numbers or expiry dates on the product page. Scroll the comments under any flash-sale post and the same question repeats — expiry date koto? Nobody has solved that yet.
The counterfeit problem in Bangladesh, in actual numbers
This is not a vibe. A 2024–2025 study by the Environment and Social Development Organization (ESDO) with the European Environmental Bureau, with XRF testing support from BAN Toxics, found that 22 of 26 skin-lightening creams bought in Bangladesh exceeded the 1 ppm mercury limit. The two worst — Due Beauty Cream at 24,800 ppm and Golden Pearl Beauty Cream at 20,700 ppm — carry no mercury on the ingredient list.
Three of those creams, including Goree Beauty Cream with Lycopene, are already banned by BSTI. The researchers still bought them, in physical markets and online. BSTI’s deputy director Abu Sayed told the same briefing that mobile courts and undercover market monitoring are running, but that the agency cannot do it alone.
Worth remembering: this is the adulterated end of the market, mostly cheap whitening creams. The everyday risk for someone buying a ৳1,500 Korean essence is different — refills, expired stock, and grey imports with the batch code scratched off. Same fix, though. Know where the bottle came from.
Same serum, seven prices
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, 30ml — one product, one day:

Two things jump out. First, the honest market band for this bottle is roughly ৳1,100–1,500; anything far below that deserves questions. Second, Rokomari was carrying three separate live listings of the same 30ml bottle at three prices on the same afternoon — and its 60ml listing at ৳2,699 works out to ৳45/ml, dearer per drop than the small bottle. Big platforms duplicate SKUs. Search, sort, and read the volume before you tap buy.
The COSRX snail essence tells the same story from the other side. The 100ml sat at ৳1,399 on Arogga, ৳1,450 on Glowmeko, ৳1,599 on OHSOGO and ৳1,900 on Makeupchari — ৳14 to ৳19 per ml. The 30ml bottle? ৳1,100 on Makeupchari, or ৳36 per ml. Buying the small bottle is the most expensive habit in Bangladeshi skincare.
And the outlier: one site listed the 30ml at ৳649. That’s ৳21/ml, well under every 30ml price we found. I’m not calling it fake. I am saying that a gap that wide means a different supply chain — parallel import, short-dated stock, or worse — and you should ask for a photo of the batch code and expiry before paying.
The nine retailers, and who each one is for
Shajgoj
The biggest beauty ecommerce operation in the country, and the only one on this list that pairs its store with nine physical outlets — eight in Dhaka (Jamuna Future Park, Dhanmondi, Uttara, Bailey Road, New Elephant Road, Wari, Bashundhara City, Mirpur-2) and one in Chattogram. It states it sources directly from brands and authorised distributors, and its site claims 450+ brands. Limitation: discount-led pricing means the “before” price is often the one nobody pays; check the current number, not the strikethrough.
Klassy Missy (klassy.com.bd)
Premium and imported-first — UK, US, Korean and Japanese lines, including CeraVe and The Ordinary. Ranks at the top for “authentic cosmetics” searches. Limitation: its product pages loaded without a visible price for us on the check date, which makes cross-shopping harder than it should be.
OHSOGO
Newer, app-forward, single-seller stock. Prices sit mid-band and are stated plainly on the listing — ৳1,299 and ৳1,599 for our two benchmarks. Limitation: consistently a little above the cheapest legitimate price; you’re paying for the cleaner buying experience.
BanglaShoppers
Describes itself as the largest retail-chain cosmetics shop in the country, importing from the US, Canada, Germany and England, and it has been trading since 2013. Good for mainstream Western brands. Limitation: catalogue depth is uneven on K-beauty.
Chardike
The K-beauty specialist, with distribution ties that the general stores don’t have. Where I’d start for Korean lines. Limitation: narrow outside Korean brands.
Beauty Booth
Strong on category and price pages, which is how most people find it. Competitive on mid-tier makeup. Limitation: we could not confirm a live price for either benchmark SKU on the check date.
Arogga
A pharmacy platform that stumbled into skincare and is now the cheapest verified price in our basket on both SKUs (৳1,130 and ৳1,399). Pharmacy-style logistics, fixed pricing, no haggling. Limitation: makeup range is thin — this is a skincare and personal-care shop.
Rokomari
Wide catalogue, reliable delivery record, and the pricing inconsistency described above. Fine if you compare listings within the site before buying. Limitation: duplicate SKUs at different prices; the top search result is not the cheapest.
Daraz
Volume and long-tail availability, and every listing claims authenticity. The platform doesn’t own the stock — the seller does. One benchmark search returned multiple sellers for the same serum, including one whose title flags a packaging variant. Limitation: authenticity is a seller-by-seller question. Buy from high-volume sellers with photographed batch codes, or don’t buy here.
Where I would not buy, and I’ll be blunt about it
Loose-stock stalls at New Market, Gausia and the smaller Chandni Chowk counters sell plenty of genuine drugstore product — and plenty that isn’t, side by side, at prices that tell you which is which. Nobody imports a ৳1,500 essence and sells it at ৳700 out of goodwill. If the box is missing, the seal is broken, the batch code is scratched, or the “tester” is being decanted, that’s not a bargain.
Facebook “hand-carry” and preorder pages are the other grey zone. Some are exactly what they claim — someone’s cousin flying in from Dubai. There’s no recourse when it isn’t. Pay on delivery, open the parcel in front of the rider, and never advance-pay a page with no physical address.
A six-point check before you pay
- Price band. Compare the same volume on three sites. Anything 30%+ below the band needs an explanation.
- Per-ml maths. Divide price by volume. The “cheap” small bottle usually isn’t.
- Batch and expiry. Ask for a photo before payment. Refusal is your answer.
- Sealed, boxed, unopened. Check at the door, before the rider leaves.
- A written policy. Damaged or wrong item replacement should be stated on the site, not promised in the inbox.
- A real address and hotline. If the only contact is a Messenger button, treat the purchase as unrecoverable money.
FAQ
How can I tell if a cosmetic product is fake in Bangladesh?
Check three things together: the price against the market band, the batch code and expiry printed on the pack, and the seal. Fakes commonly get the outer box right and the inner details wrong — smudged printing, missing batch code, mismatched shade codes. Whitening creams promising fast results are the highest-risk category, per ESDO’s 2024–2025 testing.
Is Daraz safe for buying original cosmetics?
It depends entirely on the seller, because Daraz is a marketplace, not a retailer. The same serum appears under several sellers at different prices. If you buy there, choose sellers with high order volumes and visible batch-code photos, use cash on delivery, and inspect before accepting.

Are BSTI-banned skin creams still on sale?
Yes. ESDO’s researchers bought BSTI-banned creams — Due, Golden Pearl and Goree with Lycopene — from both physical shops and online platforms during the 2024–2025 testing period. A ban removes legality, not availability. Read ingredient lists and avoid unbranded whitening creams entirely.
Why is the same product ৳500 cheaper on one site?
Usually one of four reasons: a genuine promotion, short-dated stock nearing expiry, a parallel import that skipped the local distributor, or a counterfeit. The first is fine, the second is negotiable if you’ll finish the bottle, the last two aren’t worth the saving.
Bottom line
For imported skincare at the lowest verified price, Arogga. For range plus the option of buying in person and walking out with the box in hand, Shajgoj. For Korean lines, Chardike. For makeup breadth, BanglaShoppers or Beauty Booth. Daraz only when you know the seller.
And whichever you pick, run the per-ml maths first. On this basket it was worth ৳520 — more than most people’s delivery charge for the year.
